I was NOT an athletic kid. The first time I touched a bar on a bench press, the guy who owned it pushed me into the wall and suggested that I not disgrace his weights like that again. (Yeah, he really said it just like that.)
This isn’t a “Poor Lee” story, but a reminder that it doesn’t matter where you come from, as long as you’re willing to put in the work to get to where you want to go.
When I joined the Navy I could swim pretty well and I could pound out sit-ups like no one’s business. Being 6’4″ and weighing 140lbs didn’t impress anyone, let alone me, but I could do the minimum work required, so they let me in.
Somehow I got in in my head that I wanted to try out for one of the more physically demanding brotherhoods the Navy had to offer. Truthfully, I didn’t want to do everything they did, I just wanted to be in shape like those guys. Either way, the idea set me to work, and I got in slightly better shape, and put on a slighter bit of muscle.
Years later, this root desire to get in better shape kept coming at me. Honestly, it kept me awake some nights. Sounds silly, but it’s true. Over time I ended up trying just about everything . . . not the Shake Weight, but nearly everything else. Oh, and not the Thigh Master either . . . or that thing Chuck Norris & Christie Brinkley sold, but that one tempted me a little bit.
No, I went to a few different gyms, I got into cycling, running . . . but in 2013 I was introduced to Kettlebells, got my own, and haven’t looked back. Since finding the Kettlebell, I’ve followed every trail down every rabbit hole I can find, and what I’ve come out with is a system that is versatile, portable, and easily learnable.
In January 2018 I earned my RKC1 (Russian Kettlebell Certification) from Dragon Door, and you can read my professional bio on my Dragon Door Instructor Page.
Since I started teaching Kettlebells, I’ve found that most people don’t really care about certifications, they only care if what they’re doing works, and 6 Strength Conditioning absolutely works! It works for building Strength, developing Conditioning, and increasing Mobility.
I’ve worked with some really great people who have gotten really tremendous results, and a few of them have even left encouraging Reviews . . . but if you’re interested in finding out what all 6 Strength Conditioning can offer YOU, send me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org and let’s start talking about your needs & goals!
